Why Choose Animal's Kingdom?                                              Our experience speaks for itself.....                                                                                                                                                                              Kelly Hobbs, owner of Animal's Kingdom Pet Care,                                                                          has worked with animals for over 20 years.   As well as owning cats, dogs, reptiles and horses for most of her life, Kelly has extensive experience working with domestic and exotic wildlife.   For almost 10 years, Kelly worked for Zoos Victoria at Melbourne Zoo and Werribee Open Range Zoo as a zookeeper and team supervisor.   During this time she worked with a large number of species including gorillas, bears, giraffe, big and small cats.   She was also heavily involved in positive reinforcement training for numerous species to assist in veterinary management and husbandry practices.   Kelly travelled to Cambodia and Vietnam in 2003 to work with wildlife rescued from the illegal pet, meat and medicine trades and used raised funds to renovate enclosures for bears and leopards.   This experience opened Kelly's eyes to the continuing issue of animal welfare in developing countries and the large impact that small contributions can make.   In 2005, Kelly and her partner Matt were awarded a scholarship by the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums to develop and deliver the 1st Cambodian Zookeepers Conference, held at Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre.   Kelly has since worked as Vietnam Representative for Free the Bears Fund Inc. based in Vietnam and Cambodia, securing land for sanctuaries to house rescued Sun bears and Asiatic black bears.   She has also worked as Curator of Ardastra Gardens and Zoo in the Bahamas, training and handling birds and reptiles to educate Bahamians and tourists. This involved working closely with highly endangered Bahama parrots and Bahamian pythons.   Kelly recently worked as Manager - Animal Welfare for the wonderful animal shelter at Lort Smith Animal Hospital. Lort Smith is the largest animal hospital in the Southern Hemisphere, comprising of world class facilities and specialist veterinary treatment. Lort Smith staff work tirelessly to find new homes for surrendered cats, dogs, birds, reptiles etc., and adopts out thousands of animals each year.
